Cuban Orisha dance workshops


We welcome the amazing Kimberly Miguel Mullen to Santa Barbara for a weekend of dance workshops focusing on the Afro-Cuban style of the Yoruba Orisha dances.

Kimberly Miguel Mullen brings strength, humility, and natural grace to the world of dance. She is an internationally touring Dance Artist & Ethnologist who performs and offers spirited and inspirational dance classes, workshops and extended dance residencies worldwide. She instructs various diverse and educational learning formats that are rooted in her professional dance training and extensive intellectual and cultural studies research in the Caribbean and Brazil. Kimberly is skillful at making complex cultural dance forms accessible, relatable and beneficial to everybody by creating a context through which the execution of movement guides the exploration of the self and how we connect to others and the Universe at large. She provides a safe and non-competitive classroom environment in the spirit of learning for participants to not only explore the unique relationship between the various dance steps and drum rhythms but educates on the cultural, political, historical, and social content of the dances.

Kimberly is currently on a global tour through the US, Indonesia, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America while frequently returning home to her 'mothership' class, AfroCaribe Dance at The Electric Lodge in Venice Beach and other flagship locations in California, Arizona, and Hawaii. She is the Co-Creator of the bi-annual cultural arts immersion in Cuba called Tambor Y Danza with world-renowned Musician, Luca Brandoli.
